TigerPaw's very first philanthropy related trips were conducted in the mid 90's when on behalf of some of its American clients from the medical fraternity, it was tasked with designing trips to Tanzania (ascent of Mt. Kilimanjaro) with pre-expedition medicine distribution to rural audiences who could not afford medical consultation or medication.
IJ Singh, had first shown a leaning to such programs when leading treks in Kashmir in the early 80's in the Zanskar Himalaya.
Recently, in order to develop cutting edge adventure travel concepts with relevance, an international group of high school students who all wanted to take up medicine as a career, signed up on a unique program in the Garhwal Himalaya (India) that we developed where doctors from three different medical disciplines, an allopath, a homeopath and an ayurvedic doctor manned a medical post TigerPaws set up at a village to offer free consultation to the villagers. The students sat as observers and learnt about the nature of problems that villagers faced. Doctors came to consensus on the best line of treatment for a particular patient. The program was interspersed with white water rafting and rock climbing adventure as well as herpetology and botany.
This is an example of the partnerships and programs we are committed to.
Currently we are creating fixed infrastructure at our Spashram RiverMountain Retreat to fine tune the previously run program and also incorporate greater infrastructure such as a first aid room and communications room for tele-medicine network and knowledge sharing. We currently offer custom programs for intact groups interested in a medivoluntourism program of the type indicated above.
